1. How can technology specifically help you to become a better music educator?
With the advances of technology in today's world, there are many new doors and opportunities for music educators to use these technological tools to there advantage in the classroom. By having a great amount of educational resources, interactive applications, and many other unique tools that are like no other, technology for music education lets students learn in a modern and personal way. By letting a student have a "hands on", interactive experience in music using these resources, it allows them to find their own learning path at their own pace. This also lets their learning experience become more adjusted and personal to their capabilities. For example, a student might find that learning a concept such as pitch may be easier to understand having a tool such as an iPad where they can manually move notes up and down a staff hearing the sounds, as opposed to looking at sheet or board where they can get overwhelmed with information. It's a situation like that where technology can help make a students learning more interactive and personal allowing them to deeply understand concepts better . Overall, using technology to teach music has endless opportunities that are truly unique and beneficial for a students learning experience. 2. What is your opinion about using podcasts as a way to deliver instruction to your students? I think that using podcasts as a teacher is a great and useful tool to help students grasp and understand concepts. Podcasts allow students to be able to have a more individual learning lesson by letting them have a source to listen and go back to. When a student has this tool to their advantage, it really allows them to engage in a deeper and more constructed way, and the benefit of letting them have the ability to go back and listen to gives them the opportunity to pick up any information they may have been confused on or have missed. Especially for music education, having a lecture incorporated with different listening examples is a huge advantage for letting students having a resource at their benefit along with the material they are learning. I believe that podcasts are a really great and useful tool to have as teacher in order to let students learn in a more engaging way. 3. What role do you feel the Internet will play in the future of music education? Why? I think in the future technology the internet and technology is going to become a primary source of teaching. Though it may seem a little dramatic, more and more students are becoming accustomed to classroom methods where so much of what they are learning is coming through the web or use technology instead of using a library or more manual source of information. As teachers in this new generation, its important to know how to adapt to these methods that prove are teaching students more effectively. For that reason, its a good idea to know about the resources of the internet and other technological tools we have access to use. Overall, I believe the internet will play a dominant role in the methods of teaching in futures time.
